Other Coal Technologies

In 1978 the Federal Government imposed a research levy of 5 ¢ per tonne of saleable coal on Australian coal producers, and created the National Energy Research, Development & Demonstration Council (NERDDC) to allocate the funds to research projects. The program ran until December 1992 and was administered by the Federal Department of Primary Industries and Energy. After which Australian Coal Association (ACA) assumed responsibility from the Federal Government for managing the research funds – becoming ACARP.
